Learning German

Deutsch perfekt is an ideal blend of professional journalism and successful language training. Interesting texts and topical issues provide important insights into life in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and at the same time form the backbone of Deutsch perfekt's unique language service.

In every issue, month after month, the magazine offers lively and engaging material to help learners achieve fluency in German:

Texts on three language levels

Every text in Deutsch perfekt has a clearly defined language level. That way, every reader can choose the level that fits him or her best. The language levels are based on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:

A 2Texts for beginners
B 1Texts at the medium level (ideal for preparing for the Zertifikat Deutsch)
B 2 and higher Texts for advanced learners

Vocabulary explanations

More than 750 terms, expressions and culture-related items are explained (in German) in every issue. The explanations are adapted to the respective language level of the text, and they accompany the text directly, so there is no need to turn the page. Regionalisms and country differences are explained as well, and information on stress patterns and plurals are provided.

Review exercises

Over some ten pages in every issue, exercises and explanations of grammar, vocabulary, style and idioms round out the language service. They are often linked directly to the texts in the same issue. There are also dialogues, text samples and language puzzles, as well as examples of current language from the media and advertising.

Cards to collect

Would you like to have the most important language helps at your fingertips? In every issue, key tips on improving your communication in everyday situations and at work are assembled on practical cards for you to tear out and collect. They have the format of long postcards for easy archiving.

Listen and read along

Want to hear well-known singers, actors, politicians and athletes speak? How about listening to an Austrian and a Berliner reading the same text? Selected interviews from the magazine are provided in audio form, so you can improve your listening skills. The audio files can be accessed on our website or by phone.

Magazine and website

It's an ideal combination: the website of Deutsch perfekt will be launched to coincide with the publication of the first issue of the magazine, providing even more current information and exercises. As an especially attractive plus, the premium content of the website is reserved exclusively for subscribers to Deutsch perfekt.
